| Abstract |
ENAMORS is a Concerted Action Supported by the 4th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Its overall purpose is to set up and operate a network of internationally renowned scientists and organizations involved in the design, implemention and evaluation of advanced methodological tools and techniques to analyze remote sensing data from space-borne Earth Observing instruments in the optical spectral domain. Special attention will be given to the exploration of the directional and spectral signatures of terrestrial surfaces, taking advantage of recent advances in radiation transfer theory. This network will give the highest priority to the identification of the methodological developments that are most urgently needed to address enviromental issues in terrestrial enviroments at regional (in particular European) and global scales. These objectives directly address the technical themes (i), (iii), and (iv) of the Methodological researchline of Theme 3, as described in the Enviroment and Climate Workprogramme (1994-1998).
