| Abstract |
This conference, the first of its kind, aims to review existing cooperation between Europe and Asia in space activities with a view to consolidating and expanding on the experience to date in order to focus increased co-operation on issues of mutual interest in the next century.
The organisers hope that the programme will appeal to a wide range of scientists and engineers from academia, government and industry, and to decision-makers and politicians.
On the first day following the opening ceremony there will be a presentation by astronauts on the extra-terrestrial aspects of space activities followed by a review of national and regional space activities. A special lecture on ESA?s science programme will be included. The review of national and regional programmes will continue on the morning of the second day allowing for the afternoon to be devoted to keynote addresses given by internationally recognised experts in all the topicsto be covered by the conference

All principal investigators for ESA?s ERS satellite in Asia will be invited to a special panel animated by Mr. Guy Duchossois, Earth Observation Mission Manager at ESA and the conference will close with a Round Table Session to determine the way forward and assess the means available to maintain and increase co-operation between Europe and Asia.
